Ozone Therapy in Calgary AB

Chiropractic Calgary AB Ozone Therapy

WHAT IS OZONE THERAPY IN CALGARY AB?

Ozone is a gas, mostly found in the atmosphere, but has many medical applications. When applied properly medical grade ozone has many health benefits. It is commonly used to help heal joint degeneration and ligament or tendon tears, as well as help a number of chronic or neurodegenerative conditions.

Medical grade ozone in Calgary AB can be applied in a number of ways depending on what is being helped. Most common modes of care are:

  • Ozone joint injections (prolozone)
  • IV infusion of ozonated blood, called major autohemotherapy (MAH);
  • Ozone insufflation

ISN'T OZONE TOXIC?

Ozone is only toxic when the gas is inhaled. In some respiratory illnesses ozone can be filtered through oil which converts it to its non-toxic ozonides. The ozonides can safely be inhaled and provide the therapeutic benefits of ozone. In its other applications, ozone injection, ozonated blood infusion (MAH), and ozone insufflation are all very safe and beneficial treatments. However, some populations should not receive MAH or ozone insufflation, as mentioned below.

WHAT IS PROLOZONE?

Prolozone is the when ozone is injected right after the dextrose prolotherapy solution. Prolozone promotes the healing process by a number of different mechanisms, highlighted below. Essentially it helps your body create the best environment for healing, while at the same time stimulating the healing process itself.

WHAT IS MAJOR AUTOHEMOTHERAPY?

Major autohemotherapy, or MAH, is a form of intravenous delivery of ozone, done by allowing blood to fill an empty IV bag, then infusing the blood with concentrated medical grade ozone, and allowing the ozonated blood to infuse back into the patient.

WHAT IS OZONE INSUFFLATION?

There are 2 types of ozone insufflation: rectal and vaginal insufflation.

Rectal ozone insufflation has systemic effects and can be used to help the same conditions that MAH is used for. This mode of administration is a good option for individuals who have difficult veins to place an IV, but still want the benefits of MAH. It is also more time efficient and cost effective compared to MAH treatments.

Vaginal insufflation I known to be beneficial for helping bacterial vaginosis, and may be effective against UTIs.
