Dr. Ramona Charikar, Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine

The Chiropractor To See In Calgary

I can’t believe how fortunate I am to have found a career as a Naturopathic Doctor. I was always interested in working in health care, and when I began to learn about Naturopathic Medicine it was like a light bulb went off! The philosophies behind this unique medicine fit perfectly with my ideas of health and wellness. Imagine, a system of medicine that considers the innate wisdom of the body, recognizing that symptoms of illness are a sign of imbalance, rather than something to suppress without finding the root cause. I knew that I had found the health care profession I belonged in.

I completed my undergraduate degree at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario in 2002, graduating with a Bachelor of Science Honors degree in Biology. I then headed straight to Toronto to study Naturopathic Medicine at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine. One of my most memorable experiences was a clinical rotation I completed at a community health center in Toronto, working with patients that could not afford Naturopathic medicine. It was very rewarding to be able to see the hope that was inspired in these patients, and to see how even small changes can lead to significant results.

What I love about Naturopathic Medicine is that it allows me to connect one on one with my patients, building a relationship that allows them to feel heard without being judged. My role is to educate my patients about what is going on in their body and why, and empower them to take an active role in their health. Nothing makes me happier than when a patient tells me that Naturopathic Medicine has improved their health.

In my free time I love to be physically active because it keeps my mind and body in balance. I can often be found at the gym, and in the summer I’m outside soaking up the sun, hiking, and exploring all that Calgary has to offer with my friends and family.

I have learned so much on my journey towards becoming a Naturopathic Doctor and since opening my practice in 2006, and now it’s time that I share this knowledge with my patients. I look forward to meeting you in person to discuss how Naturopathic Medicine can help you achieve your health and lifestyle goals. Please give us a call so we can help you take the first step towards optimal health and wellness!

The Doctor Asks some important questions of interest to Calgary residents - Chiropractor Calgary The Doctor Asks...

How could chiropractic help a stomach problem?
Chiropractic works by locating and reducing areas of the spine compromising nerve communications between your brain and your body. If nerves to or from your stomach are irritated, your stomach won't work right. Chiropractors find the source of the interference, reduce it and allow your body to work as designed.
How long does it take to form a bone spur?
Many who begin chiropractic care think their problem happened "last week when you bent over funny." But pictures of the spine tell a different story. Chiropractors know it can take your body years to deposit the calcium necessary to form a bone spur. It's your body's response to stress due to gravity or joint malfunction. And chiropractic care can help.
