Dr. Natalie Sweett, Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine
Naturopathic Medicine is based on the understanding that the human body is a complex mechanism held in a delicate balance through natural processes. Symptoms of illness signal that our balance is disturbed. A naturopathic doctor helps the patient in restoring the balance needed through natural processes.
Growing up in a home where good nutrition, fitness and natural remedies were part of everyday life, it was an easy fit for me to move into the field of naturopathic medicine that focuses on a healthy and balanced lifestyle.
Our popular culture is fast-paced and we easily fall into the trap of seeking fast cures or instant remedies that allow us to keep up the pace in the short term. Further, many of us have surrendered control over our own health to health-care professionals and the pharmaceutical subculture that we have come to rely on.
Rather than focus on illness, in naturopathic medicine, the doctor and patient, embark on a journey of wellness together. Every patient is unique and thus each treatment plan must be approached differently. My goal as your doctor is to guide you in making sustainable lifestyle changes through education in health and wellness and a variety of natural treatments including: nutritional and lifestyle counseling, acupuncture, homeopathy, botanical medicine and nutritional supplementation.
My educational background includes three years at the University of Victoria majoring in the sciences and at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto I received my training as a Naturopathic Doctor. I am a member of the Alberta Association of Naturopathic Practitioners (AANP) and the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors (CAND).
I look forward to meeting you in person to embark on your journey in achieving your health goals.
