Chiropractor in Calgary | Dr. Kyla Miller

"Sometimes it feels like I provide care to "friends" all day"

Chiropractor in Calgary, Dr. Kyla Miller

When I was four years old, I told my parents I was going to be a psychiatrist, and continued believing I would be a medical doctor until I was injured in a car accident and lost all the feeling in my arms. There wasn’t a medical doctor who could tell me what was wrong or how to get better! Then I met Dr. Dale, a wind surfing chiropractor from San Francisco.

My Chiropractic Story

He performed many nerve function tests, posture exams, took X-rays, and was the first practitioner to explain the cause of my arm symptoms! After three weeks of adjustments, I had full use of my arms again, and was back to competitive swimming and water polo 20 hours per week. Over the next eight years, Dr. Dale encouraged me to pursue chiropractic as a career, and I did!

Knowing how important chiropractic care was to my health, I continued to be adjusted every week, even when I moved to France to swim competitively and study French. Upon my return to Canada, I played water polo at University of Victoria while I worked towards my Bachelor’s degree in Human Health Science. From there I moved to Portland, Oregon for chiropractic school, and enjoyed many day trips to the Oregon coast and pints of micro brew!

Team-work Approach to Care

Everyday I continue to be amazed by the body’s ability to heal itself, and I love talking about chiropractic, so please ask questions! I believe in a team-work approach to care, and feel it is important for patients to understand it is not just what I do in the office, but what they do to help themselves throughout the day!

Patients who want to find the cause, fix the problem, prevent it from returning, and give themselves a better feeling of wellness, are ideal. They play an active role in their rehabilitation, and health. No patch work or masking of symptoms. There is no magic pill, and there is always room for improvement and change. Even the smallest changes (ie. taking a vitamin, using the stairs vs. elevator) can have positive long lasting effects.

It's really all about helping your body help itself

In the office we treat a variety of conditions caused from the many stresses we place on our bodies, but most of all, I want to help patients function at their best, and improve their quality of life. It is so powerful to hear patients say just how thankful they are to be feeling so good.

I have been working at the Beacon Hill location since September of 2009. I was attracted to this area because there are many new communities around the clinic, and I enjoy treating patients of all ages. I like to see and hear the giggles of children after getting adjusted, and listening to the stories of my "snow birds" who have returned from a winter of golfing down South.

I love to hear about my patients families, workout routines, new challenges they are facing at work, trips they are planning, and summer activities they are participating in. It is nice to see patients taking a wellness approach-wanting to keep feeling good, prevent injuries from returning or occurring!

Outside the Office

When I’m not at the office, you can always find me in a pool! I continue to play competitive water polo, train for triathlons, travel, and enjoy wonderful cuisine and wine. I just returned from USA Masters Water Polo Nationals, and I am looking forward to competing in the Canadian Masters Nationals during Stampede! My husband and I are looking forward to camping this summer, and testing out some new golf courses. We also try to keep up with our very active dog, while taking time out to relax and enjoy each others company. I continue to volunteer with Rotary International, working directly with the Youth Exchange Program, helping students from around the world learn our Canadian culture, and appreciate all that Canada has to offer.

I look forward to meeting you and your family, so we can get you started along the road to recovery!
