Introducing Dr. Kyla Miller of My Spine Docs

Calgary Chiropractor

When I was four years old, I told my parents I was going to be a psychiatrist, and continued believing I would be a medical doctor until I was injured in a car accident and lost all the feeling in my arms.  There wasn’t a medical doctor who could tell me what was wrong or how to get better!  Then I met Dr. Dale, a wind surfing chiropractor from San Francisco.  He performed many nerve function tests, posture exams, took X-rays, and was the first practitioner to explain the cause of my arm symptoms!  After three weeks of adjustments, I had full use of my arms again, and was back to competitive swimming and water polo 20 hours per week. Over the next eight years, Dr. Dale encouraged me to pursue chiropractic as a career, and I did!

Knowing how important chiropractic care was to my health, I continued to be adjusted every week, even when I moved to France to swim competitively and study French.  Upon my return to Canada, I played water polo at University of Victoria while I worked towards my Bachelor’s degree in Human Health Science.  From there I moved to Portland, Oregon for chiropractic school, and enjoyed many day trips to the Oregon coast and pints of micro brew!

I continue to be amazed by the body’s ability to heal itself, and I love talking about chiropractic, so please ask questions!  I believe in a team-work approach to care, and feel it is important for patients to understand it is not just what I do in the office, but what they do to help themselves throughout the day!  In the office we treat a variety of conditions caused from the many stresses we place on our bodies, but most of all, I want to help patients function at their best, and improve their quality of life.

When I’m not at the office, you can always find me in a pool!  I continue to play competitive water polo, train for triathlons, travel, and enjoy wonderful cuisine and wine.  My husband and I try to keep up to our very active dog, while taking time out to relax and enjoy each other’s company.

I look forward to meeting you and your family, so we can get you started along the road to recovery!

The Doctor Asks some important questions of interest to Calgary residents - Chiropractor Calgary The Doctor Asks...

How could chiropractic help a stomach problem?
Chiropractic works by locating and reducing areas of the spine compromising nerve communications between your brain and your body. If nerves to or from your stomach are irritated, your stomach won't work right. Chiropractors find the source of the interference, reduce it and allow your body to work as designed.
How long does it take to form a bone spur?
Many who begin chiropractic care think their problem happened "last week when you bent over funny." But pictures of the spine tell a different story. Chiropractors know it can take your body years to deposit the calcium necessary to form a bone spur. It's your body's response to stress due to gravity or joint malfunction. And chiropractic care can help.
